Despite what Lana would like us to believe, she was born in Gainesville, Florida. The good ol U-S of A, as Hacksaw Jim Duggan would say. Her parents were of Portuguese and Venezuelan descent. Lana spent several years of her youth in Lativian Soviet Socialist Republic in the Soviet Union, while her father worked as a missionary. Not the normal experience for an American born person. Her character instantly has a real place to pull from, not just Rocky IV. In many respects, she plays one of the most authentic characters in WWE. Its easy to picture a light bulb flashing over Vince McMahons head after stumbling on the fact she lived in the Soviet Union. Had I never researched her, she could have easily passed for Russian. For most fans that won't bother researching, this is perfect for WWE.
