5. He Was An Ancestor Of George Washington's Baggage Master
Landel is actually descended from U.S. President George Washington's Baggage Master, Peter Shipe. Shipe was Landel's 5th Great Grandfather, and served under Washington, who awarded him a land grant in Knoxville following the end of his service that the family held for 200 years right up until 1980. Not sure what a baggage master is? He's literally in charge of the bags during travel, usually at a railway station or other form of transit. In Shipe's case, he held that position with Washington during the Revolutionary War.
