10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Ruby Riot
She was trained by 'The Roc' - and loves climbing them.
Ruby Riot certainly made a lot of noise this past week on SmackDown, invading the blue brand's locker room with lackeys Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan, before leaving a quartet of blindsided bodies in their wake. Charlotte, Naomi, and co. probably didn't know what hit them - and doubtless, neither did a majority of those watching.
The trio's leader is no stranger to NXT devotees, having been a distinctive presence on the yellow and black show since the beginning of the year. Her punk rock stylings distinguish her as an alternative choice for an alternative brand, an 'anti-Diva' in the same mould as Paige. Her SmackDown bow was practically an echo of the Brit's Raw return the night before, but it's thoroughly deserved. Ruby has got it where it counts - in the ring.
Her wrestling credentials are clearly in evidence, but what do we know about the woman behind riot, Dori Plange? What journey did she take to reach wrestling's highest table? What's the story behind all those tattoos? And which former WCW star did she choose to name her fluffy friend after?
10. She Was Trained At The 'School Of Roc'
No, Jack Black didn't set up a wrestling school following his turn in Nacho Libre - thank goodness.
Ruby Riot began her wrestling tutelage under Billy Roc in Lafayette, Indiana, eventually emerging as the school's most decorated graduate despite entering as a complete tabula rasa.
"She did well naturally. But she did have to work very hard to become a better athlete," recalls her tutor. "But she never had the look of giving up: the look I saw was somebody who was not going to give up."
When pressed, did Roc genuinely believe Riot would make it to where she is today?
"She's right where I knew she would be. There's one thing I can't teach in wrestling, and that's the 'IT' factor. She has that. She's grown into a rock star."
