10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Jerry Lawler

10. Introducing Us To Isaac Yankem DDS

The Isaac Yankem character was an example of how cheesy the mid-1990s were in WWE. They had some ridiculous over the top characters that just didn't work. In the summer of 1995, Lawler brought in Yankem to feud with Bret Hart. There were some stupid vignettes where Yankem was working as a dentist with a drill and causing pain for his customers while Lawler was talking about how he would be doing that to the stars of WWE too.Yankem was a major flop as a character. He had a big match with Hart at SummerSlam 1995 that ended in a DQ, which meant the feud would continue and eventually Hart was able to win it. Obviously WWE saw enough in Yankem as a performer that they kept him around as Fake Diesel and later as Kane. He's been in WWE for nearly 20 years. It's just that the Yankem gimmick was very forgettable. Lawler's involvement with it was too. Since WWE never wants fans to remember that Kane portrayed Isaac Yankem before he was established as Kane, Lawler's association with Yankem is definitely something that WWE wants us to forget.
