In many ways, WrestleMania 28 is the grandest WWE show of the past decade. While there are many years when the show's main event doesn't feel worthy of all the hype that goes into it, that charge certainly couldn't be levied at WrestleMania 28. In a bout first announced 363 days earlier, John Cena, WWE's top star and the standard bearer for his generation, took on The Rock, WWE's most charismatic and famous superstar ever. Not only was the bout unmatchable from a marquee standpoint, but the rest of the show was strong, as well. After a surprisingly good showing at WrestleMania XXVII, Triple H and The Undertaker agreed to a rematch - this time in Hell in a Cell with Shawn Michaels as referee. In the third of three main events, CM Punk was set to defend the WWE Championship against Chris Jericho, a dream match between two men who both claimed to be "The Best in the World". All things considered, the show was a winner. With more than 1.2 million buys, it was the most-purchased wrestling PPV event ever or since, and the live gate of $8.9 million set a then-record. Still, the show wasn't perfect. The main events masked a weak undercard, and the first hour was a complete loss.
