It's hard to believe that The Miz was in the main event of WrestleMania in 2011, but in 2012... it was also pretty hard to believe. After he and R-Truth were defeated by The Rock and John Cena at Survivor Series 2011 and their "Awesome Truth" team exploded, the former WWE Champion was clearly on his way down the card. As WrestleMania drew near, he began to complain about his lack of a spot on the show, all while amassing a months-long losing streak. Miz promised that he wouldn't end up like King Kong Bundy, who famously headlined WrestleMania 2 before falling to a midcard tag team match on the following year's show. Still, that's exactly what happened - the former WWE Champion was essentially an afterthought, and he ended up taking part in a 12-man tag team match on the show of shows. The Miz did score the deciding fall in the match, bringing an end to his losing streak, but it was still a meteoric fall for the man who retained the WWE Championship in the previous year's main event. While the Rock/Cena main event was born out of a confrontation at WrestleMania XXVII, The Miz's role in the program was completely forgotten one year later.
