The night after CM Punk won the right to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania, 'Taker's longtime manager, William "Paul Bearer" Moody, passed away. Far be it from WWE to miss any opportunity to exploit the dead - the very next week on Raw, Punk interrupted a tribute to Moody. This sort of buildup continued throughout March. Punk and Heyman irritated Undertaker by mocking the late manager (including having Heyman impersonate the Bearer character), and all the while WWE trotted out the tired old line about how "he would have wanted it that way". That was despite the fact that Moody's own sons decried the use of their father's image in the feud. The allusions to Paul Bearer continued into the WrestleMania match. Heyman took a page from Bearer's book by bringing Undertaker's urn to ringside and raising it triumphantly - he also gave it to Punk, and the "Straight-Edge Superstar" struck Undertaker in the head with it for a near-fall. Though fans loved the match between Undertaker and Punk, the constant disrespect shown to the late Moody was seen as unnecessary to everybody besides Vince McMahon.
