10 Things You Didn't Know About James Ellsworth
Ellsworth Mania is running wild!
There’s just something fascinating about WWE’s latest jobber-turned-potential superstar James Ellsworth, and it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is. He’s an endearing act, and one that is quickly winning over fans across the world. Not since the days of Barry Horowitz pinning Skip has an enhancement talent made such an impact on the audience. But why exactly are fans so drawn to him?
Perhaps it’s that Ellsworth is like William Hung of American Idol fame years ago (though with more talent), in that he doesn’t resemble a superstar, but the fact that he’s out there trying to reach his dreams in a business that he doesn’t seem suited for makes him easy to root for.
Maybe it’s that we see a bit of ourselves in Ellsworth. Watching him in the ring is like visualizing what it would be like for us to fight against our own personal Braun Strowmans of the world, whatever they may be. Over-matched and over-powered, but perhaps with enough heart and determination, we too could do whatever we set our minds to if given the opportunity. When we face challenges, we may close our eyes and picture we're like The Rock, but when we open them, we're an Ellsworth; nervous, in over our heads, but still filled with hope. We can’t help but cheer him on, because he’s one of us us.
But really, where did this guy come from? With no TNA, ROH, PWG, Lucha Underground, or any sizable indy promotion experience to speak of, there's not a ton of information of him out there. But what we've learned so far has been pretty interesting. While he's new to WWE, he’s actually been around the business a very long time, and has shown incredible determination to get to where he is right now.
