Oh, it’s trivia, it’s damn trivia…

Here’s a date to mark in the calendar: October 6th 2016.

Why? Because that’s the date that none other than Kurt Angle will be coming to WCPW!

As announced at a recent live show, Angle will be appearing at the WCPW: Refuse to Lose event at the Northumbria Student Union in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where he’ll be joining the likes of Cody Rhodes and Jay Lethal on a card absolutely stacked with world-class talent.

And what better way to prepare for his arrival than by brushing up on all your Angle-based knowledge.

We already know the main takeaways; 1996 Olympic Gold Medallist (with a broken freakin’ neck, no less), former WWE, TNA, and IWGP Heavyweight Champion, and all-round icon of the pro wrestling industry. But what about some of the lesser-known Kurt Angle trivia? A career as long and exceptional as Angle's has thrown up a lot of info that has slipped under the radar or is otherwise not as talked about.

Having scoured the internet ahead of his big arrival, this article looks to celebrate this latest WCPW announcement by bringing you some of the very finest of Kurt Angle factoids. We'll start with his pre-WWE days...

10. Two-Time NCAA Champion

On top of all of those earlier accolades, there’s one that’s often missed off the list and, given that it came during his collegiate days, it’s arguably more newsworthy than anything he’s since achieved in the world of professional wrestling.

While WWE are usually quick to tell you about Brock Lesnar’s NCAA Division 1 Heavyweight Championship win - or at least, Paul Heyman is - far less fuss is made of Angle’s accomplishments in the very same field. Also, unlike Lesnar, he’s actually managed to win two separate NCAA championships.

In both 1990 and 1992, Angle was crowned a NCAA Division I Champion whilst attending Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

And as far as I can tell, that’s enough to make him the only two-time NCAA champion in WWE history. Feel free to call me out on that one, but with NCAA crossover stars like Lesnar and Jack Swagger unable to match Angle’s trophy haul, that puts him very much in a class of his own.
