If you're not familiar with Florida Championship Wrestling, it's likely best described as the precursor to NXT. For several years, this is where the WWE trained their stars of tomorrow. Like many on the current roster, Wade Barrett cut his teeth down in FCW. At the time working under the name Lawrence Knight, injury struck and ruled the Englishman out of action for several months. A damaged back muscle resulted in surgery, but Knight would keep himself relevant by taking on commentary duties. It was supposedly Dusty Rhodes, one of the minds in control of FCW at the time, who suggested that Lawrence Knight take up a position at the announce desk alongside the legendary American Dream in order to keep him in the spotlight. Ever since we've seen Wade Barrett, it's been clear that he's a good talker. Several months of announcing with Dusty Rhodes likely did him no harm either. Such is Barrett's poise, delivery and tone, you'd have to think that he'd be a prime candidate to make the transition from wrestler to commentator once his in-ring days are over.
