3. His Wrestling Name Is An Homage To A Rugby Player
Stuart Bennett has been through quite a few wrestling names since making his debut back in 2004. As well as using his real name, he's at stages gone by Stu Sanders and Lawrence Knight. But it was in August 2009, midway through his stay in Florida Championship Wrestling, that he would take on the Wade Barrett name. The inspiration for this new moniker came from former England and British Lions rugby union star Wade Dooley. Dooley, who retired in 1993, was a favourite of Bennett's and was known for his no-nonsense, physical style of play. At 6'8", Dooley was nicknamed the Blackpool Tower, and he's also remembered for breaking the cheekbone of an opponent in a fierce England vs Wales match. Much like Wade Dooley, Bad News Barrett is also somebody who takes no prisoners and isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty.
