2. Vs. AJ Styles (SummerSlam 2016)

Cena's match with AJ is the most fresh in the memory of any on this list - and it helps that we're all giddy with anticipation for their long-awaited follow up next week at the Royal Rumble - but it's no exaggeration to say it may have been the best WWE match of 2016 (and, whisper it quietly: it might just be one of their greatest ever).

This wasn't supposed to be the main attraction at SummerSlam (that was Lesnar vs. Orton), just like AJ wasn't supposed to rise to the main event so quickly after his debut, but sometimes the fans do get to have their way. If you didn't get even a little bit excited watching AJ and Cena trading finish moves and conjoined-twin-close near-falls, it's probably time to find a new hobby.
