In 2003, 'The Game' dominated as the World Heavyweight Champion, facing numerous ex-WCW stars such as Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash and Booker T. Shockingly, Goldberg would make his way into the company in April, running through The Rock with a vicious spear the night after WrestleMania XIX and going on to defeat Rocky at Backlash. From there, it seemed only a matter of time before Goldberg would get a crack at Triple H and the World Heavyweight Championship. It made perfect sense to give him a shot, as fans had reacted well to his initial appearances. At Summerslam, Goldberg was one of the 6 men competing in an Elimination Chamber bout, joined by the likes of Nash, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton and - of course - Triple H, but wouldn't leave victorious. At Unforgiven in September, 2003, Goldberg was handed a one-on-one crack against Triple H for the belt, and even though Earl Hebner was bumped during the match, the former WCW Champ would bag the big one in the end. It was a cool finishing sequence, seeing Triple H low blow Goldberg and nail him with a sledgehammer, but it wouldn't be enough, and a Jackhammer would see Goldberg pin his foe shortly afterwards and win the match.
