10 Times Wrestlers Worked Their Way Into A Job

2. Pat McAfee (WWE)

Pat McAfee is quickly becoming one of the most entertaining parts of Wednesday nights. Last year, McAfee would pop onto WWE screens every so often to be a pre-show analyst, however, earlier this year, McAfee showed up not as an analyst, but as an ass-kicker. He punted Adam Cole in the head and challenged him to a match at TakeOver XXX, in a segment that was all very bizarre and out of nowhere, but yet really entertaining. McAfee was great on the mic and all he needed to do was prove himself in the ring, and prove himself he did.

Cole and McAfee had almost the match of the night and it was clear that 'Boomstick' had been working hard in the Performance Center, learning the ropes and developing a surprising amount of wrestling ability. It appeared that the whole experiment was just a one and done, but McAfee's performance opposite Cole had shown the right people that McAfee was worth contracting.

McAfee has since been placed in the black and gold brand's biggest storyline, involving seven of the promotion's best and brightest. He's mixing it up with the best and it can't be denied that he's working incredibly hard to be taken seriously. As a result of his hard work, he's headed for a date with War Games, and now, nobody doubts that he will probably be the performer of the match.
