10 Times WWE Introduced Something Cool (Then Panicked And Took It Away)

2. Talking Smack

Talking Smack, by all accounts, was a show that was being pretty well received by most of the fans who committed to sticking around after SmackDown Live or one of the blue brands PPVs to watch it. That is, right up until the show was finally sentenced to permanent death in early 2018.

Yet, the ludicrous decision to get rid of one of SmackDown Live's weekly highlights didn't make sense.

WWE had a panel style show where stars - who perhaps weren't given the time to broadcast their points of view on the main programme - had a chance now to cut freestyle promos and garner genuine fan support.

The Miz even managed to turn himself into one of the hottest commodities in the company, simply by calling out co-host Daniel Bryan on probably the most famous episode of the short-lived riot.

If WWE had just kept Renee Young on the show and maybe drafted in someone like Paige or even CM Punk (in the FOX WWE landscape) to helm the creation alongside her - instead of murdering another concept just because they felt trigger happy - there probably wouldn't have been any need to invent WWE Backstage.

Instead, the quirky off-the-cuff little parcel of joy was mercilessly dragged away from our screens and another excuse to tune into SmackDown Live went along with it.
