10 Times You Were Right To Worry About WWE Feuds
10. Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. AJ Styles
WWE really ballsed up this dream feud.
Shinsuke Nakamura was the only choice to win the Royal Rumble match in 2018. When it happened, fans were giddy about the idea of a showdown at WrestleMania between him and AJ Styles... until they started worrying about whether it would live up to their last match together.
WWE fans that were used to seeing handpicked sports entertainers headlining pay-per-views couldn't believe that two men who faced each other at Wrestle Kingdom 10 would be headlining 'Mania.
Firstly, the match didn't even go on last. When fans did get to see the contest, it wasn't even that good. Their New Japan Pro-Wrestling contest was an absolute classic, but this one fell into the realms of being fine. Nothing more and nothing less.
After he lost, Nakamura low blowed Styles and turned heel. WWE loves to continue 'Mania feuds after the Grandaddy, so surely they'd get the chance to have a better match?
Nope. Things got worse.
Their next match ended in a double count-out, so they had a No Disqualification bout at Backlash. That finished when they both hit a low blow and neither could answer the 10 count.
It finally came down to a Last Man Standing match which AJ won to end the feud. For two of WWE's most talented performers, who fans knew could have a five star match together, it was strange that it didn't work out that way.
Nothing about this dream feud lives long in the memory sadly.
