The argument about whether or not WWE are doing the right thing by scripting promos for their wrestlers seems to be a pretty hot topic over the past few years, and there's perhaps a reason for that - fans really miss when wrestlers were allowed to let their own personalities shine through via their words, instead of being forced to learn pages upon pages of scripted lines before reading them out in robotic fashion on-screen. 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin has been one of the most outspoken regarding this issue over the past several years, expressing his expert opinion time and time again that it's silly to treat pro wrestling as anything other than a spontaneous industry, one which feeds off the natural passion and talent of the people involved in it. Basically, Austin surmises that WWE would be better with less promo-scripting, and it's hard to disagree there. One of the major problems plaguing promos is that a lot of them don't really have much meaning, or - if they do - they retread the same ground over and over again. It's like kind of staleness which stops performers from being spontaneous, stifling their own creativity.
