10 Unique WWE WrestleMania Statistics

10. WrestleMania 2 Was Hosted In 3 Different Cities

Once upon a time, WrestleMania 2 was unique for a very different reason - it featured the only steel cage match in the history of the event. This was rectified in 2021 when Braun Strowman destroyed Shane McMahon inside one at WrestleMania 37. What does still make the second show unique is the harebrained idea that will never happen again because almost everyone has agreed it was a terrible decision.

In order to attempt to top themselves after the success of the first show, Vince McMahon made the choice to host WrestleMania 2 in three parts back-to-back. Think Lord of the Rings but a lot more baby oil and bad boxing matches. The event emanated from different arenas in three different cities: The Uniondale Colosseum in Long Island, Rosemont Horizon in Illinois and the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. The separate sections were broadcast one after the other, with the crowd watching the other arena's matches on screens in the venue.

The majority of people probably wanted to see Hulk Hogan defend the world title against King Kong Bundy. However, the crowd in Illinois were stuck with a WWF vs. NFL battle royal, while the New York faithful ended up watching Mr. T and Roddy Piper flail around under the guise of boxing, which ended in a disqualification. The show was a disjointed mess, fans were not happy with the idea and it has never been attempted again, which makes the show something of a novelty if nothing else.
