10 Unusual Ways To Get Hired By WWE

10. Be Part Of The Broken Universe (Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, The Hurricane)

Matt Hardy was long too good for the grisly world of professional wrestling, but it took him over 15 years to realise it and make his own one instead.

A Broken Universe incubated in TNA in 2016 ultimately served him so well that he made the unlikeliest of WWE comebacks in 2017, but it wasn't just the purveyor of "Broken Brilliance" that reaped rewards from his offbeat imagination.

Brother Jeff was key to Matt's initial recharacterisation. Hardy's circuits were first fried following a particularly bruising battle between the brothers, all as build up to the instantly iconic Final Deletion, broadcast from the Matt's "compound". Diving deep into low budget cinematic absurdity instead of standard Sports Entertainment fare, the brothers crafted a clash perfectly placed to capture the changing moods of fans looking for outside-the-box action.

Responding to the success of the story, Matt and Jeff went all in on the gimmick, traveling through space and time on an "expedition of gold" that ultimately led them to tag team title glory at the 2017 'Show Of Shows'. Others gained work and exposure from the skits too - Shane Helms' Hurricane gimmick was revitalised in the 'Lake Of Reincarnation' ahead of him rejoining WWE in 2019, and Matt nearly pulled off the miracle of the decade by almost making Bray Wyatt's 'Eater Of Worlds' gimmick relevant again. Tragically, it proved the only thing more broken than Hardy himself.
