The way a fired-up Mercedes Martinez jump-started the triple threat by attacking Io Shirai worked well. She cut the standard ring intros off, which (coincidentally) had the knock-on effect of leaving those for the main event and the main event alone. It also handed the match immediate energy.

Martinez' own focus on becoming NXT Women's Champ came across loudly and proudly as well. The three-way was laid out brilliantly, and emphasised Io's willingness to put her body on the line, Toni Storm's misfortune and Mercedes' unrivalled grit and determination equally.

Who doesn't love a good jump-start anyway? It's logical, because wrestlers vying for championships should be like caged animals waiting for that bell. As soon as it sounds, the meanest ones must spring into action and seize the chance to snare an early advantage.
