10 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (20 May)

There were many moving parts in this segment, and somehow, everything flowed together so naturally to create one of IMPACT’s greatest segments of 2021.

Moose entered, sauntering to ringside as he now has the chance to end Kenny Omega’s World Championship reign at Against All Odds. ‘The Wrestling God’ noted how Omega is a God of professional wrestling, but he isn’t the ‘Wrestling God’. According to Moose, guys who Omega has already defeated – Chris Jericho, Kazuchika Okada, and Jon Moxley – couldn’t lace his boots. A simple statement, yet, so effective.

Omega and Don Callis entered not long after, with Callis making repeated jokes, stating that Moose couldn’t win a title in Ring Of Honor, nor could he win a Super Bowl. Moose bit back here; he knows Omega can’t hook him up for the One-Winged Angel, and so challenged Kenny to do so here. Enter the Good Brothers to avoid such a situation, soon chased off by a bat-wielding Sami Callihan. Sami stated backstage that they’re not on the same page, but they are both on the side of IMPACT Wrestling.

This ruled. Every tiny detail, from Sami not actually hitting anyone with the bat to Moose looking directly at Omega while Callis was talking to him, made this a seamless effort to build the perfect story for 12 June.

The match is going to be a banger; that’s a given. If the story is this good, though, it may just be the one thing IMPACT is remembered most for this year.
