When they announced Brian Myers was injured and therefore couldn't make it to Turning Point, IMPACT Wrestling teased a surprise opponent for Rich Swann.

Given their standard of surprises over the past year and a half, the anticipation was high. Could it be a released WWE star? Perhaps a highly popular free agent? Or, the most clear option, the recently-signed Mike Bailey.

Instead, it was VSK, one of Myers' Learning Tree members.

Now, this is in no way a dig at VSK, as he's typically been a fine wrestler since coming into the IMPACT fold. The issue is that it wasn't worth building hype over. Given that all of IMPACT's teased surprises in 2021 have always delivered - Thunder Rosa as Deonna Purrazzo's mystery Slammiversary opponent being the greatest example - VSK rocking up to face Rich was a mistake on IMPACT's part. That they've deleted their initial tweet confirming Myers' injury is perhaps them realising their mistake.
