6. Dynamite Hits Its Stride

AEW

Though peppered with flashes of excellence in 2019, AEW Dynamite didn't truly hit its stride until early 2020, when the wonderful Revolution pay-per-view build saw Tony Khan and co. refine their storytelling and structural techniques to create a monster.

January and February were tremendous. Dynamite will never be perfect, of course, but stories like MJF vs. Cody, The Inner Circle's war on Jon Moxley, and the year-best Kenny Omega and Hangman Page vs. The Young Bucks saga unfolded beautifully. Smart, logical, and entertaining, AEW was on fire, though the onset of the global health crisis saw quality levels nosedive in March, leaving the promotion reeling with just 30% of the roster available for us.

Things have since returned to normal, with AEW perfecting Empty Arena Wrestling since Dynamite. Noise levels are now comparable to a mid-level indie promotion thanks to the gathered masses at ringside and the writing is back on point, with angles, segments, and matches dovetailing into one another with grace and fluidity. Khan pens these shows like he's been doing it all his life and each one flows like water, making Dynamite wrestling's easiest watch.
