Ever since Drew McIntyre returned to WWE a few years ago, you had to wonder if and when the company would fully get behind him and push him hard. They’d done a few stop-and-start pushes, but then would always cool him off.

That changed Sunday, when McIntyre was the one who ended Brock Lesnar’s reign of terror in the Royal Rumble, then went on to win the whole damn match, eliminating Roman Reigns last.

McIntyre has slowly been showing more of a tweener/face side to his persona lately, talking to the fans or surveying them in his promos, and so forth. That would certainly help if he’s challenging Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.

Now, WWE best not get cold feet here. While Seth Rollins faltered as the chosen one, McIntyre could actually benefit from this type of elevation.
