The untimely death of Dusty Rhodes hit the WWE family extremely hard. The American Dream was a big part of NXTs growth and development, and his passing reverberated throughout the developmental territory, as well as through the main roster, where two of his sons Goldust and Stardust currently perform. What saved this tragedy and turned it into triumph was how WWE managed to put together various specials and tributes to Rhodes. There was the retrospective on his career and the first-hand recollections of interactions with the Dream. These pieces offered a fitting tribute to a legend in the business, and it showed WWE paying proper respect to Dusty.Rhodes death is terrible on many levels, but it also set the bar for how WWE should treat its legends, not just when they pass, but while theyre here. The Network specials for the Ultimate Warrior last year were incredible as well, but why should WWE wait until its too late?
