10 Ways 2018 Was WWE's Craziest Year EVER

7. Ronda Rousey Points At A Sign

There was nobody better suited to take the first major pay-per-view of 2018 off the air than the 'Baddest Woman On The Planet', but only in such a wild year could the signing of a non-wrestler go so well enough to build an entire second revolution around them.

In UFC history-maker Ronda Rousey, WWE had acquired one of the biggest sporting names in the world, but little else was known about what came with the deal beyond her glowing tributes to Rowdy Roddy Piper and her - at times, disarming - willingness to contribute to the cause.

Rousey was the anti-Lesnar in just how much she actually wanted to bend and break for WWE. In terms of former participating celebrities though, she was the anti-everybody. Few had ever embraced their new life between the ropes quite so earnestly, and even fewer had proven their worth as fast. Nerves on Night One were brushed aside by a scintillating WrestleMania display that foreshadowed her year as the most dynamic performer in the entire company.

Entire pay-per-views were promoted around how quickly she'd pieced the puzzle together. Combining her star aura with a literally unbelievable knack for the craft, October's history-making Evolution simply couldn't have happened without her incandescent personality and the instantly iconic punches she unloaded on Triple H back in April.
