10 Ways Monday Night Raw Ruined WWE

3. WrestleMania IX Felt Limp By Comparison

As if further evidence was needed on the previous entry, WrestleMania IX is largely considered one of the most dire 'Mania events in history. It does have some charm, mainly stemming from the unique setting, but many fans consider 'Mania IX as one to pass up. Perhaps the show would have felt bigger had the company not just started a new show, Monday Night Raw. WrestleMania should have felt grander than Raw, but it didn't, and looked fairly small time compared to what many people had come to expect from the big WWF Pay-Per-Views. Worse yet, Raw was supposed to represent a bold new era for the World Wrestling Federation, but Hulk Hogan would win the Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania. It was a confusing time, one during which the promotion were clearly in transition, but there seemed to be a degree of panic from Vince McMahon, going with the tried and tested formula of having Hogan as champ, even though he didn't really fit with Raw.
