10 Ways To Fix WWE's Universal Title
8. Rebuild The Pecking Order
Alignment issues aside, Raw’s current main event picture is staler than month-old bread. Owens, Jericho, Rollins, and Reigns have completely worn themselves out over the past couple of months, and it’s highly likely that their collective story will end at the Royal Rumble. If that’s the case, then January 29th can’t come soon enough.
The weekly segments are repetitive and baseless, and the matches haven’t been great either. These are four of WWE’s most talented performers, but their ongoing storyline is only holding Raw up at the moment.
It’s time to reshuffle the deck, and remove a couple of them from the title picture for the time being. Fans are already burned-out on their shenanigans, and it’d do the title picture the world of good to reinvigorate the pecking order with some fresh faces. It’s not like Raw are short of options either, and while most of these competitors would require significant build-up before challenging for the title, WWE can’t continue running variations of the same feud forever.
Brock Lesnar can be thrown in to give the Universal Title an instant jolt of credibility at any point, and Braun Strowman, despite his limitations, is really starting to get over with the crowd. Elsewhere there are guys like Sami Zayn and Cesaro, who remain immensely popular with the fans, and Rusev, who has quietly become one of Raw’s best all-round wrestlers. There plenty of choices on the table, and each would inject some much-needed freshness into a stagnant title hunt.
