The Attitude Era.
Those three words bring back passionate memories from fans who grew up with it. Within the course of a few years, wrestling matured. The storylines became more intriguing, many of the cartoonish gimmicks went away, arenas were packed with excitement and we had amazing stars like The Rock, Steve Austin and Mick Foley to watch every single week.
Those were the days to be a fan...or so many of us still claim.
We often look back at that time as if it was just one long four-year party. Then something happened, and wrestling is nowhere near as good as it used to be. And in some ways, those fans are right. But as a whole, things really aren't that bad right now and, in some ways, they're actually better than they were during that sacred time.
Now, I'm not saying that today as a whole is better than The Attitude Era. That's up to the individual to decide as the product is vastly different than what it once was, but history has shaded our perception a bit. Taken as a whole, those years weren't all brilliant, and this era isn't all bad.
