10 Ways WWE Will Be Different In 10 Years

10. De-Emphasis On Weekly Cable Shows

I’m not gonna go so far as to say RAW and SmackDown will stop airing on cable television entirely. Even though the ratings for both shows aren’t nearly what they were in WWE’s heyday, they’re still the most watched shows on the USA Network, and WWE’s television deal makes up a huge chunk of their revenue.

That said however, it’s clear the glut of weekly live programming is discouraging audiences from tuning in week-to-week, and many are simply watching reading recaps of shows after the fact and watching highlights uploaded to YouTube.

Expect to see WWE’s programming rely less on being “appointment television,” with RAW or SmackDown either having shorter run times or have less emphasis on big angles that change week-to-week.

In a way, expect them to be somewhat like NXT’s current weekly show.
