WrestleMania V was all about the time The Mega-Powers exploded! Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan were at loggerheads, with the former being jealous over the friendship between Miss. Elizabeth and his World Title challenger, and the match promised to be huge. There'd been some disappointment over 'Mania IV, mainly due to a dull, lifeless 14-man WWF Title Tournament that sucked the life out of the Trump Plaza venue. It was Donald Trump's luxurious building that hosted WrestleMania for a second time, the fifth iteration in 1989, and surely the WWF would be out to redeem themselves for the boring event just 12 months previously? Well, sort of, the show did start out with a slow-paced plod between Hercules and Haku. In fairness, there was one major plot point surrounding the clash. Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan had been taking Hercules for granted in the months leading up to WrestleMania, and this prompted the muscle-man to turn babyface and tell Heenan to hit the bricks. Even so, this was a fairly pedestrian effort, one which didn't really start 'Mania with any fireworks.
