Kurt Angle revealed via his podcast that WWE had two distinct visions for his role at WrestleMania X8. One was to wrestle an incoming Sting, which would've been special and preceded the WCW icon's run in TNA. The second was...somehow even bigger than that.

Angle went out of his way to contact Bret Hart and find out if the jaded legend would be interested in hauling on the pink and black tights for a technical dream match with him at 'Mania. Sadly, the 'Hitman' (who hadn't wrestled for over two years by that point thanks to his career-ending head injuries) wasn't game for it.

Bret would eventually return to the WWE fold for some DVD and Hall Of Fame business between 2005-2006. Then, he'd come back for some ill-advised matches in 2010. It's insane to think that he almost wrestled Kurt freakin' Angle less than five years after the 'Montreal Screwjob'.
