Perhaps WWE thought sticking the supremely popular little lucha libre in the 30th spot would quell the dissatisfaction of a crowd baying for Batista's blood, still in faint hope that their own selected hero Daniel Bryan would emerge to prove Big Dave's pre-ordained sign pointing had been a bluff all along.

Nope. The clock ticked down for a final time, and out emerged a sheepish Rey Mysterio to an inordinate, unearned shower of boos. It wasn't Rey's fault. He could have been Santa Claus or Stone Cold Steve Austin; he would have been jeered either way. He simply wasn't Daniel Bryan. WWE clearly thought he could bear the brunt.
