10 Worst Finishes To WWE WrestleMania Matches
4. Bret Hart vs Yokozuna (WrestleMania IX)
Circa 1993, it felt as though the Hulk Hogan era had just about come to a close. The man who had headlined seven of eight WrestleManias had come off the back of two disastrous main events on the trot, and was showing his age.
In Bret Hart, they had the future, an understated but charismatic technician who could have a great match with anyone. At WrestleMania IX, he was ready to face his biggest challenge yet, the gigantic Yokozuna. Could Hart overcome the monster?
No. In a pointlessly limp finish, Yoko’s manager Mr Fuji threw salt in Hart’s eye, allowing the big man to assert his heelish dominance by grabbing a fluke win over the Canadian.
Obviously that’s not why we’re here, though. The real dreadful finish came moments later when Hogan strode to the ring to check on Bret. The clownish Fuji then challenged Hogan to take on Yokozuna himself. 22 seconds later, the Hulkster dropped the leg, pinned Yoko, made everyone else look dreadful, and left with the strap. Hulkamania lives! (For about four months)
