WWE were so happy that Daniel Bryan was medically cleared to wrestle again that they programmed him with Big Cass.

OK, that's a d*ck move, and not one Cass deserves. He was an innocent bystander to WWE's decision-making, and he did try to make the best of it by showing off some new promo skills. Sadly for him, fans wanted to see Bryan chase down old foe The Miz or gun for the WWE Title again. They didn't fancy sitting through predictable midget jokes.

That's what SmackDown's writers served up however, and they reached into the bag of tricks to pull out a mini-Daniel kicking too. This wouldn't have been a problem had the matches on pay-per-view ruled, but they didn't. At Backlash at MITB, their collisions robbed the audience of energy and frustrated Bryan sympathisers who weren't getting what they wanted.

Although Bryan moved on when the dam burst and Cass was fired by WWE in June, some of that momentum and good feeling upon his return was lost in the process.
