10 Worst WWE Moments Of 2007

10. Teddy Long’s Wedding Heart Attack

Best be careful with this one, or our Theodore will pop up out of nowhere like a Randy Orton finish and put someone in a tag-team match. It's either that or they'll have to go one on one with The Undertaker! Both tropes were hallmarks of Teddy Long's fabulous time as SmackDown GM. His wedding to on screen girlfriend Kristal Marshall though? Not a highlight.

Long proposed to Kristal on the 22 June SmackDown. The overwhelmed Diva ran out of the ring initially, but later agreed to marry him. Teddy danced all night after that news. Probably. Then, kayfabe tragedy struck when Long had a heart attack just as he said the words, “I do” on the 21 September SmackDown. The wedding plans were in chaos, but WWE surely had something satisfying to follow up with...right?

Right?!

Nah, Kristal was released shortly afterwards, so WWE's writers never finished the story and Teddy returned as normal in November like nothing had really happened. You've really got to wonder what the point of this entire exercise was. Word of the wedding dominated SmackDown's summer in 2007, then one half of it was written off TV and the other got released.

Long's storyline with Marshall reeked of the Al Wilson stuff with Dawn Marie from years earlier. Thankfully, WWE stopped short of having Teddy suffer a fake death because he was oversexed. That was seriously the pitch (and execution...literally!) for Al back in 2003.

It always sucks when creative puts so much airtime into any story without actually coming through on it in the end. That's just a waste of everybody's time.
