10 Worst WWE Wrestlers Of 2017
Duds, deadbeats, and donkeys.
It's difficult to stand out on WWE's crowded roster. The likes of AJ Styles and Cesaro do so through prodigious in-ring talent. For Shinsuke Nakamura and The Miz, it's their electric charisma. Braun Strowman has his 'holy s***' factor, Samoa Joe is genuinely ferocious in the sanitised PG era, and Brock Lesnar's special aura remains intact thanks, in part, to his relaxed working schedule.
Such performers catch the eye for the right reasons, but others? Not so much.
With WWE's working standards higher than ever before, subpar performers have never been so noticeable, and 2017 has been full of duds. Granted, many have suffered from bad booking, but their mere presence on WWE shows has become tedious at best, and unbearable at worst, so lowly is their form.
Note that wrestlers are ranked on performances, not their position in the hierarchy. Curt Hawkins, The Miztourage, Aiden English: they're jobbers, but great in their roles. Jason Jordan was omitted on the strength of his recent ring work. Enzo Amore, the worst pure worker in the company, was saved by his dynamic personality. James Ellsworth barely wrestled.
With those (dis)honourable mentions out of the way, let's examine the worst of the worst...
10. Dana Brooke
Dana Brooke is pure canon fodder.
Called up to the main roster entirely too early in 2016, she has failed to show any real progression in her performances since graduating from NXT. Her promos are stunted and awkward. The ring entrances resembles a WWE 2K18 CAW spamming multiple taunts at once. She's in the roster's bottom 5% when it comes to ring work. Her character? Non-existent.
Once considered a promising-but-green developmental prospect, Brooke has become an anchor on Raw, where she continually drags everyone down around her. She had a listless babyface run at the start of the year, but reverted to villainy without explanation a few weeks later, and has been primarily used as a squash match victim throughout. Tellingly, Dana has won only three televised matches in 2017, two of which came on Main Event.
Every division needs enhancement talent, but Brooke's complete lack of seasoning suggests she isn't even cut out for this role, as she's lacking as both a bumper and seller. At her worst, Dana has been difficult to watch in 2017. She desperately needs another Performance Center stint.
