When Shawn Michaels lost his smile and vacated the WWE Title in 1997, he set of a ridiculous chain of events that let to Bret Hart, Sid and The Undertaker all holding the title between February and March. Sid had a hold on the WWE Championship on and off since Survivor Series 1996 where he originally defeated Michaels. He was a monster heel with electric charisma who was super over with hardcore fans. Opposing him would be The Undertaker who was looking to win his first WWE Championship since 1991, after years of getting jobbed during title matches. This was seen as his first legit opportunity. Naturally, The Undertaker emerged victorious seeing as he was undefeated at WrestleMania until this past year. This battle of behemoths brought him to 6-0, but its more of a footnote in The Streak rather than a title win now. Previously, The Undertaker and Sid had two distinct feuds on WWE UK World tours, and house show circuits in 1991 and 1992. They each took turns being the face and heel, the flip happening after WrestleMania 8. They never happened on any major stage, but the video here shows it was a big deal to those in attendance.
