10 WrestleMania Statistics WWE Don’t Want You To Know
Let the run time roll.
Look, you don't want to read a mass burial of WWE's oldest and most legendary institution. You want to look forward to it.
But this is for your own good.
You probably plan on rewatching every WrestleMania event, or at least your favourites or those you deem worth a second look, and wish to supplement your viewing with some positive content. That is imminent; we at WhatCulture provide balanced coverage of professional wrestling, contrary to the meme that will not f*cking die.
NYUH WhatCulture is so negative!
Even though its flagship, most successful brand is literally named Ups & Downs. That's both positive and negative! We don't call it 10 Downs & 10 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown. It is X Ups & X Downs depending on the quality of the show, which we tend not to be performative about because it is exhausting, and because WWE just 50/50 booked the newly-mute EC3 weeks into his debut. We're not going to write "Cool to see EC3 looking strong against a top guy like Ambrose [multiple heart eyes emojis]" because it's not really cool. It is literally pointless.
But WrestleMania is different. It is, after all, Christmas for the sports entertainment fan. Reading that back...is the present sense really applicable?
Or has WrestleMania totally eaten itself?
10. Rob Van Dam Is Mr. WrestleMania
Which legendary competitor remains undefeated at the Showcase of the Immortals with the most amount of victories?
The Undertaker's Streak is no more. Shawn Michaels was known as 'Mr. WrestleMania' because he stole the show more than he dominated on it. Triple H holds the record of most 'Mania losses - but he wins, really, doesn't he, because it's not as if those losses saw him tumble down the card. Is it better to win an André The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, or to lose three times to the Undertaker?
This leaves, and this is morbidly hilarious, anti-company man Rob Van Dam, who boasts a 4-0 record.
He defeated William Regal on his maiden appearance, winning the Intercontinental Title in the process. He then outlasted three tag teams of varying grade at 'Mania XX alongside Booker T, captured the Money In The Bank briefcase at 'Mania 22, and was part of the ECW Originals faction that went over the New Blood foursome of Elijah Burke, Kevin Thorn, Matt Striker and Marcus Cor Von at WrestleMania 23. A vampire, a teacher, a boxer and an alpha male reads like a strange stable on paper.
In reality, that stable was also terrible.
In failing to hand a Streak gimmick to one of the Undertaker's successors, which is what happens when the event is promoted around names that have won and lost and won and lost and won and lost again, WWE's real Mr. WrestleMania is the guy who does cockeyed impressions of Shawn Michaels and once buried Triple H for telling naff pot jokes.
