Fans may be surprised to know that Barrett's background as an underground bare-knuckle fighter is legitimate, and it was his early career that led to serious injury. After winning a high-stakes match in Budapest, Barrett won a large cash prize (20,000 pounds, as per "Bad News" himself), but while looking for a taxi to the airport, he was assaulted and stabbed by a man who was after his money. Nevertheless, Barrett fought back, pulverizing the man and escaping Budapest with his life, the cash, and quite a scar.
