4. Psycho Sid / Sid Vicious
Sid, in any of his incarnations in WWF/E or WCW, was a prime example of why big men will always be welcomed with open arms by pro wrestling. Because, even if theyre only so-so in the ring and can barely talk, at the end of the day, theyre still huge imposing figures.
At 6 9, Sid had a great look and really sold the unhinged nature of his character. His finishing move was a modified release powerbomb, which looked great but must have been stiff as hell. In the eyes of a youth audience, those three elements likely made for a really awesome monster wrestler.
More seasoned fans, however, tend to look back at Sid with less appreciation. In many ways, he has even come to be a kind of punchline as his notoriously botched promos are often included in compilations of wrestling blunders. Sids limited ring skills could be compensated for when he was paired with a better opponent, but its hard to forget the image of his leg snapping under his own weigh as he came off the second turn buckle for a simple maneuver during a 2001 WCW match.
In addition, the persisting urban legend that he soiled himself during a match with The Undertaker has not done anything to help his reputation.
But before all these factors led to Sid being seen as a joke, he was pretty badass.
