10 Wrestlers Who Had No Business Competing In Money In The Bank

By Jamie Kennedy /

10. Ric Flair (WrestleMania 22)

Making his first and only appearance under the banner of the Money In The Bank match, the legendary 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair was a pretty strange choice for the stunt-based bout at WrestleMania 22 in 2006. Joining the likes of Rob Van Dam, Matt Hardy and Shelton Benjamin, Flair sat awkwardly alongside names such as Finlay and Bobby Lashley as guys who didn't really look like they belonged in that setting. In fairness to Flair, he did show a willingness to get in on the action, taking a pretty hefty-looking suplex off the top of a ladder from Matt Hardy just moments into the match. Selling the move like he'd been thrown from the tallest of buildings, Flair had obviously planned the spot to at least give him some reason to be involved. Whilst that was a cool visual, it was hard to shake the overwhelming feeling that Ric Flair - at his advanced age - just shouldn't have been in there with the lightning-quick guys like RVD and Benjamin, who could zip around the place and seemed to have a realistic chance of walking away with the briefcase. At least he agreed to take that bump!
