Jeff Farmer is not a name that is familiar to many wrestling fans. If the name does ring a bell, its likely because of this:Sadly, thats a different Jeff Farmer than the one were here to discuss. Farmer got his start with World Championship Wrestling as one half of the Thunder and Lightning tag team. Never heard of them? Okay, well, how about Cobra? He was embroiled in an intense feud with Sgt. Craig Pittman. No? How about Sting? Youve surely heard of Sting. Well, Jeff Farmer competed as Sting in WCW. While Steve Borden is the only real Stinger -- and the original -- Farmer had a three-year stint with the Southern promotion as an impostor Sting. The real Sting had walked out on the company in the midst of the New World Order storyline. Later that year, fans were under the impression that the Stinger had returned. However, fans were angry when Sting began to attack WCW wrestlers and side with the nWo. It was all revealed to be a play by the heel faction, who had hired an impostor. Dubbed the nWo Sting, Farmer stuck around for longer than anyone likely expected. He even picked up a victory over the real Stinger in Fall Brawl 1996s WarGames match. While he remained under contract to WCW, Farmer traveled to New Japan Pro Wrestling and joined their nWo Japan faction. He continued to compete as the nWo Sting and did pretty well for himself before abandoning the gimmick around the year 2000.
