10 Wrestlers Who Made Chris Jericho Submit
10. Chris Benoit – Raw May 8th 2000
Jericho's first tap out occurred on a very bad night. After winning the Intercontinental Championship from Chris Benoit mere days before on Smackdown, Jericho had to run the gauntlet so to speak by having three championship matches in one night on Monday Night Raw. The first against Kurt Angle caused a tap out by the Olympic gold medallist with the Walls of Jericho. The second match against The Big Show ended in a count out victory for Jericho despite being dominated and fatigued. The final match had the odds massively stacked against him, with Triple H as special guest referee. At the time the McMahon-Helmsley regime was dominant. As a result, the ending of the match involved Triple H blind-sighting Jericho before Benoit locking in the Crossface.
Despite never tapping, Triple H instantly rings the belt in favour of Benoit, awarding him the IC title. Officially this means Jericho's first WWF submission loss was by true definition of a screw-job. Benoit submitted Jericho properly at the Judgment Day PPV a couple of weeks later, but for the record books, this edition of Raw was Jericho's first submission loss in the World Wrestling Federation
