10 Wrestlers Who Should Have Been Megastars By Now – But Aren’t

3. Seth Rollins

The fact that Seth Rollins’ selection as the cover star of WWE 2K18 was described as a “surprise” by Dave Meltzer tells you everything you need to know about his current standing in the company. Long story short, as great as he is, there are others who seem to be favoured more highly.

That being said, if his return from injury had been handled a little better, we could have been viewing the splurging of Rollins over the 2K18 cover as an absolute no-brainer.

Having torn his knee to shreds in November 2015, Rollins’ eventual return provided the opportunity to hit the reset button on his character and kick-start a triumphant face turn. Surprise, surprise, though, it didn’t quite pan out like that.

Rollins returned at 2016's Extreme Rules show, jumping Roman Reigns for a massive pop, but in the following weeks he was still acting like something of a heel, and all the while he was still using Triple H’s Pedigree for a finisher.

It was all very confused and prevented Rollins from making the kind of return that his very mentor, Triple H, had pulled off back at Madison Square Garden at the turn of 2002. Since then, things have certainly improved for Rollins, but it still feels like following his injury, an opportunity was missed in propelling him to that next level of superstardom.
