10 Wrestlers Who Will Be Back In WWE NXT Eventually

Who will be next to follow in the footsteps of Kassius Ohno and Drew McIntyre?

Over the course of NXT's illustrious history dating back to 2012, there have been those who have gone on to great success on the main roster, and those that have been unceremoniously released.

For whatever reason, the latter crop of once-promising prospects never fulfilled their full potential in NXT, and were either handed their walking papers or left on their own because they knew they would never be bound for the main stages of Raw or SmackDown. In a weird way, their departures from the hot black-and-yellow brand were the best things to happen to them.

Whether it was in Impact Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor, Lucha Underground or just the independent scene in general, these ten talents proved they indeed have what it takes to flourish in NXT. It also isn't unheard of for former NXT stars to resurface, with Kassius Ohno and Drew McIntyre being recent examples following their resurgence in recent years.

Basically, don't be surprised to see any of the following names from NXT's past return at some point down the road - yards better than they were before.

10. Rich Brennan

Unlike SmackDown Live, NXT is the true land of opportunity. Just ask Mauro Ranallo, who recently returned to WWE under the NXT umbrella after an abrupt end to his stint on SmackDown Live as its lead play-by-play commentator. That goes to show that anyone, including announcers, can be welcomed back into the fold if they have something to offer to the product.

Granted, Rich Brennan was no Mauro Ranallo, but he was still one of NXT's better commentators in the last five years. He started out as generic as every other play-by-play announcer in recent memory (Tony Dawson, anyone?), but he actually came into his own over time and showed his passion for the product through his work.

In addition to calling the action on SmackDown for a brief period of time, Brennan was the voice for NXT for nearly two years from 2014 to 2016, sitting behind the booth for many of its early TakeOver events. Unfortunately, he was cut from his contract in April 2016.

Brennan has largely kept quiet since leaving WWE, but would it be too much to ask to have him replace the useless Percy Watson? He, Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness could be a really fun trio on commentary.
