If there's one thing Vince McMahon doesn't like, it's having power removed from his grasp. Even in interviews with the likes of Playboy down throughout the years, McMahon has remarked that he's a control freak. A lot of this is likely public bravado, but it's nonetheless true that Vince felt like Jeff Jarrett had power over him, albeit briefly, in 1999. His WWF contract set to expire, Jarrett demanded a ton of money to appear as scheduled and lose the Intercontinental Title to Chyna at the No Mercy '99 Pay-Per-View. Rather than cancel the match, McMahon acquiesced to Jarrett's terms, and the wrestler quickly departed for WCW. Unfortunately for Jeff, even though he became a World Champ in Atlanta, WCW went out of business less than 2 years later. There was no road back for Jeff Jarrett to the WWF/WWE after this. McMahon even publicly bashed him during the Raw/Nitro simulcast in March, 2001, and it was clear there was no place for the wrestler. Left with no other option but to start his own company, Jarrett helped found TNA. Now in charge of Global Force Wrestling, 'Double J' is not someone fans can expect to see back in WWE.
