Minoru Suzuki is a theatrical performer who doesn't undermine his credible projection of danger.

It's all in service of presenting himself as a sadist who relishes the violence as well as he delivers it. In the grasp of any other performer, Suzuki's convulsive laughter, tongue-out taunts and sickly grin might scan as silly. Suzuki however is such an incredible actor that this crazed character work accentuates his performance. The man is a hard bastard, but he isn't gruff nor miserable about it. The idea that somebody is capable of defeating him is amusing. He actively wants a challenge, and invites striking exchanges with an enthusiastic grin, equipped with the knowledge that it's his domain.

It helps, of course, that Suzuki is a legitimately skilled and legendarily hard shoot artist. A pioneer of the MMA boom and a man once capable of defeating the "world's most dangerous man," think of it like this: Suzuki gets beat a lot. More often than not, in fact. He's a Gedo go-to whenever a newly-minted IWGP Champion starts their reign, he's never reached a G1 block final, and he's never won the big one.

And yet, his aura is impeccable. In the moment, Suzuki projects such terror that his record fades from the memory.
