8. Gran Metalik
He was one of the Cruiserweight Classic’s star performers, but Gran Metalik has become 205 Live’s forgotten man. The former Mascara Dorada’s TV debut was held up as he concluded prior commitments in Mexico last summer, but after finally linking up with WWE in November, we was made to wait until February before making his debut.
Unfortunately, Metalik produced a notable botch in his match against Drew Gulak, and it looks like this has cost him dearly. Metalik has made just one 205 appearance since then (losing to Noam Dar in May), with the rest of his bouts taking place on Main Event. In total, he has wrestled just 12 televised matches since joining the company.
His lack of use comes as a surprise, as there are currently just 15 active wrestlers on the cruiserweight roster, and repetitive match-ups are one of the show’s biggest issues. Metalik has demonstrated not only in the CWC, but during his previous spells in NJPW and CMLL, that he is one of the most exciting luchadors on the planet. Given how tame 205’s in-ring feels, you’d think WWE would use Metalik to deliver the kind of high-flying action fans expect from the division, but alas...
