2. Roddy Piper Was Mentor For The Rockers

Both Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty were full of bravado early in their respective careers. Working together as 'The Rockers', the teen heart throb duo regularly tore the house down in exciting tag-team matches. Arriving at the venue for the 1991 Royal Rumble event, they were shocked to learn they'd been placed in the opening bout against The Orient Express. Feeling their hard work was more deserving of a later spot, the pair were down in the dumps. Approaching Michaels and Jannetty, Roddy Piper told them the curtain jerking slot was a major compliment. Telling the team that this was a reward for their work, Piper stated that the most important matches on the card were those that opened it and the main event. Taking their peer's advice on board, The Rockers ripped it up against The Orient Express for close to 20 minutes. By far, the opener was the best match on the card. In Jannetty's words, this wasn't the only time that Roddy Piper gave Shawn Michaels or himself crucial advice, and he acted as a mentor of sorts to them.
